Hachiko Monument Unveiling
In celebration of the 100th
anniversary of the nation of Japan’s donation of
3000 Cherry Blossom Trees to the Capital City of the
United States of America. Today we renew the
friendship expressed at that time with a new
commitment of friendship and appreciation of mutual
cultures.
These young saplings are of the
same variety as those planted in the Tidal Basin in
Washington DC in 1912. They are presented by the
government of Japan to the City of Woonsocket in
deep appreciation for the aid and assistance given
to Japan during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake.
Refreshments served by the
Students of Beacon Charter High School for the Arts
